Shape the future of IBM!
We invite you to shape the future of IBM, including product roadmaps, by submitting ideas that matter to you the most. Here's how it works:

Post an idea
Upvote ideas that matter most to you
Get feedback from the IBM team to refine your idea
Help IBM prioritize your ideas and requests
The IBM team may need your help to refine the ideas so they may ask for more information or feedback. The offering manager team will then decide if they can begin working on your idea. If they can start during the next development cycle, they will put the idea on the priority list. Each team at IBM works on a different schedule, where some ideas can be implemented right away, others may be placed on a different schedule.
Receive notification on the decision
Some ideas can be implemented at IBM, while others may not fit within the development plans for the product. In either case, the team will let you know as soon as possible. In some cases, we may be able to find alternatives for ideas which cannot be implemented in a reasonable time.
For product documentation, see Knowledge Center.

Thank you again for submitting this RFE!
This request will likely not be delivered within the release currently under development. IBM is soliciting RFE Community feedback for this request through activities such as voting. IBM will update this request in the future.
I completely agree that the platform should do this - it seems like it should be a very simple enhancement to allow a configurable error message in a validation rather than relying on the platform deciding what the message should be.
Until then, a relatively simple custom java workflow component can be built to solve this problem and is something I have deployed in a number of clients.
to further clarify this usecase we have validations that run complex advanced logic (1 and 2 or (3 and not 4).... ) up to 20+ conditions. The messages is too long for the screen and not readable. But I would love to be able to say 'if THIS validation fails please print "Validation Failure please make sure to check field X is less than field Y"'
That would go a very long way to push end user experience.
